Keeping My Nose to the Sewing Machine

I've been doing pretty much nothing but sewing these past few days.  I have two classes scheduled at a local quilt shop.  They aren't until September and November, but she wants the samples done by August 5th for the newsletter.  Here is what I have done so far.....

The picture color is a little off here.  I love this one...tons of fun;)

I was originally going to use white rick-rack, but decided to try the lilac...I like it much better.  It finishes off the quilt quite nicely.  Very feminine.

That ruffle is actually a striped print.  And the focal print (pink) is fussy cut to line up down the whole front.

I became expert with the stitch ripper on these quilts.  For such a simple quilt, it proved to be quite aggravating at some points.  I think it was because I did each version a bit different, and was working on them at the same time.

The quilt layout is actually pretty versatile.  I was thinking of doing one more in a "boy" theme....a focal novelty print and blues.  Instead of the ruffles, squish them down and sew through the middle of them.  I will have to put it together to show you what I see.

I am trying to see if I can get some color in my houseplant collection.  I picked up this trailing lavender last week.  The light here in the morning is great.

I think I am going to take a few minutes to myself and go stick my feet in the pool.  Hope anybody that is having to deal with the heat wave across the Midwest is staying indoors and cool as possible.  I know it has been sweltering here the past week.  Today was the first day I could open up the windows without drowning in sweat.

Anyway, Happy Quilting to All!!

What pretty sample quilts. I hope that everyone who sees them in the quilt shop will want to take a class.
What a pretty plant, too.

Cute, cute, cute! I hope you get lots of students! And don't even talk to me about the heat - we're on vacation in very northern Michigan and temps in the 90s are nearly unheard of here...guess what it's been every afternoon since we got here? Yep. Without A/C. I look forward to hearing more about your classes and seeing what boyish version you come up with for this quilt.

The ric rac and ruffles work really well and you have made some really nice quilts. Keep as cool as you can and think of us here in Sydney windlashed and chilled to the bone! We're actually having a winter for the first time in years. Ann :-)
