I think it's about time I check in here.  I have been haunting the blogs, but not posting.

All is well here, but we have been busy.  My son turned 18 last month, and my daughter turned 21 a few weeks later.  We also had my mother's birthday to celebrate, not to mention Halloween and Thanksgiving.

Right now the hubby and I are in California on a family emergency.  His father started having symptoms of strokes last week.  On Saturday, he was admitted into the hospital.  Turns out that the seizures were the result of brain damage caused by a stroke and are affecting his speech center.  In a bright turn around to the situation, the doctor witnessed one of the seizures and had a really good idea of what was happening.  Seems that there was a hole in the heart that was allowing air bubbles into the blood stream causing the strokes.  He went in for a "look see" procedure, and the condition was confirmed.  He was then transferred to Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angles.  At last contact, he was in recovery and is due home today or tomorrow.  He will still have the seizures for a while, but he will live.  That's good.

As for ourselves, we are packing up house and headed to Oregon at the end of this month.  We don't have a forwarding address, or a job lined up yet, but we are leaving.  The decision came after a long debate about living for so long in a place that none of us (me, the hubby, and now my son) can function in.  It's not much of a life when you are stuck in the house 9 months of the year and the months you can go out are too cold to do anything in.

So, with good faith and high hopes, we are headed up the Oregon Trail;)  I know it will be good for all of us once things get settled.  I have been here at sea level for 3 days now, and feel soooo much better.  I was told years ago that I should stay at sea level due to a slight heart condition.  The tension in my chest has subsided over the last few days, and I can do yard work and housework without becoming exhausted.  That's a good thing;)

I have managed to get some quilty things done, but no pictures right now.  I will try to post pics after we get home and before the rest of the packing happens.  I have been sorting and reorganizing my sewing stuff....I don't think it has ever been this organized;)

Anyway, hope all is well with everyone else.  Keep up all that wonderful quilty stuff you guys are doing.  I enjoy seeing it all;)

Happy Quilting!!

I'm so glad to hear your father in law is on the mend and the doctor figured it out. I bet you'll all be glad to get him back home - him included! Good luck with your big move to Oregon. I know you'll do fine and the benefit to your health will just make it that much easier. I look forward to seeing your quilty photos, but understand if they don't get up here too quickly - you've got a lot else going on!

You have been busy!! Glad you FIL is doing better. Hopefully he will be home soon.
Congrats and good luck on your move. I know that it is something you have been wanting for a while. Sometimes you just have to close your eyes and jump. (Metaphorically speaking of course LOL).

I am so jealous! We want to move there some day. I'm not jealous of all the packing, sorting and the actual move part, but hope it all goes well for you. Do you know where you will settle? Can't wait to hear more details. Good luck in all your plans!
