It's been a busy week on the phone with my mom and my brother's wife keeping up on what is going on up there.  They have moved him up to cardiology, getting him settled in on some meds he can go home with, and postponed the surgery on his foot for 4 weeks.  They still don't want to put him under yet because of the heart thing.  Mom says he looks better, but he has a long way to go until he really is.

In the mean time, I have been doing my best to keep things normal here.....

The weather here yesterday was awesome!!  We took off to the hills for a much needed hike.  This was the first time I have strapped on my big hiking pack since my feet issue started.  We are doing this to see how far I can go in a day before my feet call it done.  I think we may be able to do a few miles in somewhere if we take a day in between to rest and then head back.

My son on the trail;)

I think it's great that he has such a good time with us.  He has come so far in the past 6 months.  And now I am looking at him turning 18 in less than a week.  He has plans of joining Job Corp to get started in training for welding.  He has grand plans for his life;)  Good stuff;)

Oh, and he went to visit his friend again;)  You should have been there for the interactions between these two.  You would not believe it.  You know how they say a pet picks you?  Well, the sealion picked him;)  Only he can't go home with us;)  The sea lion spotted him in one of the windows, made a beeline for him, and then started rubbing up against the window.  It looked like he was smiling.  Michael pointed in the direction of the outside area and headed over there.  The sealion met him here where I took the picture.  I could go on about more of the interaction, but you just had to be there.  Really good stuff;)

And...I managed to get a UFO done;)  I decided to just tie it....couldn't figure out how I wanted to quilt it with the raw edge thing.  It's done.  That's what matters;)  Have no idea what I will do with it.  Can't send it to the grandson....too much pink in it.  It will find an owner one of these days;)

I will close on that note.  I took a long nap at the wrong time of the day today, so I am wide awake in the middle of the night again.  Got the hubby's lunch packed, so I guess I could do some sewing until he gets up for work.  He likes it when I am up when he is getting ready to head out for the day;)

Anyway, hope all is well with everyone, and Happy Quilting!!

Your hubby is in quite an interesting position...is that the this-is-where-I-landed-when-the-camera-timer-went-off position? :) Looks like the three of you had a great time. No, wait, four - Aeon is there! The sealion is great. I'm wondering if maybe your son should consider a carreer with animals if he has such magnetism! As for the wonderful bright quilt, if you don't want to send it to me, I don't see any reason why your young grandson couldn't use it. I don't see THAT much pink and unless mom has a problem with it, I think the bright colors would be wonderful for him. And I'm so glad to hear your brother is heading in the direction of healing. I hope he continues to do so well so he can get home and really heal.

It is good to hear your brother is improving a bit! Hope all goes well to a full recovery. The hike looks fun and Happy Birthday to your son within the week. The story about the sealion is great. Love the quilt, it turned out great, really full of color! Have fun!

Those certainly are happy smiles on your son's face! I'm so happy that he is having a good time with you and also making serious decisions about his life. It's good to hear your brother is at least holding his own, even if real improvement is slow.
That quilt is real cute; it does NOT have too much pink for a boy. I'd think any kid would love it! ---"Love"
