Well...I made it!!!

I had been fretting (to put it lightly) over the past few weeks about turning 40, but I woke up on Friday with a sense of calm and accomplishment.  It was akin to being pushed up to the edge of a pool that you weren't really sure was going to be a comfortable temperature, being pushed in, and realizing that all that fuss and resistance was down right silly.  The sense of accompishment is still a bit harder to put into words yet;)

And yes, Katie, the hubby went out of his way to make sure I enjoyed myself that day.  He put together a really nice spread for a party he pulled together.  We had a few friends over the night before.  Nothing like the roaring 20's parties we had back in the day, but a nice gathering nonetheless;)  Then on Friday he took me on the Metro Shop Stroll, aka a shop hop;)  It only had four quilt shops participating, but it was still fun;)

I picked up a few goodies on the shop hop...
You know me...finding the odd stuff;) This is a new one out by Alexander Henry.  I love it!  The macabre version of that stuffy toile;)  Too much;)

Then the hubby spotted this and fell in love with it....
He wants this to be "his" quilt;)....here are some closer shots....

I think they are hilarious;)

But anyway, I have so much to do today....like taking a shower for one;)  No really, I need to get back to work on that southwest quilt....it's driving me nuts that it is taking so long.

Happy Quilting!!

I'm glad you had a good birthday and survived. I've yet to hear of anyone dying just from turning 40, but I suppose it IS a landmark year (I'll be there before I know it!). I love both your fabrics - those bears crack me up too. It's going to be a fun quilt for your hubby, though maybe not one he could sleep under for all the giggles those bears will induce!

Well, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! 40 isn't so bad. Been there once myself! Love the fabrics. Why can't I find stuff like this?

Those bears are too fun! Glad you're happy with 40 - I turned 40 too earlier this year and so far life is still good :)

HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY, A LITTLE LATE!
Glad you had a great celebration to your liking. For me, it's almost as many years back to forty as it was getting there! Well, not quite, but too close to be kicking my heels! You do find a lot of cute fabrics to have fun with; can't wait to see the hubby's quilt! ---"Love"

Happy Birthday!

The Toile looks like a lot of fun, as well as the crazy bears! The fun you will have with both pieces!

Glad you survived the big 4 - 0! And are feeling good about it! Being closing in on a much bigger number, I feel like you are still a young whipper snapper! The fabric your DH picked out is so cute and will make a wonderful man's quilt!

Happy Birthday! I read the other day that 40 is the new 30. By the time you get to 50 it'll be the new 30. At this rate you'll be 30 forever! Fantastic fabrics - the *hunting* scenes. Ann :-)

Hehe :D Congrats on 40! I felt the same way - "What on earth is all the fuss?" I actually really enjoyed turning 40, because I was happy with the life I had built and the point I was enjoying, finally, by that age. I just turned 44 last week, and was happy all over again because it was nice and symmetrical. ;D
