I've been trying to sit down and write for days, but things just kept getting in the way.  I've been out errand running getting the kitchen stocked up for the boy's arrival next week, taking packages to the post office, working here and there, and otherwise running around like a chicken with my head cut off.

I did manage to hit a couple of killer sales this past week.  Jo Ann's had their notions and such 50% off, so I stocked up on those.  I went through the fabric section, and decided I didn't need to spend anything on that right now.  I did get to pick out my own "gift" the other day....
I splurged and got myself some pretties;)  I got my first set of Fiesta ware several years ago.  I saw these and just had to have them;)

And a hostess set to go with it;)  I don't think we will have company this year to use this stuff with, but I've decided to put it in my everyday use collection.  If I saved them for a special occasion, I get to use them once a year;)

On to quilty stuff.....

Remember this monster????  I promised it my brother and his wife back in 2008.....yeah, well, it didn't get done.....until now.....

!!!!!!!!

Now, I didn't quilt this myself.  Remember when I posted my UFO list a couple of months ago?  Well, I was approached by a fellow online quilter who had read that post.  She offered to machine quilt any one of those on my list.....for free!!!!  How cool and kind was that???  I had to read the email several times to make sure I was reading it right.  Sure enough, after several emails back and forth, I picked out a project, got the goods together, went over possible quilt designs, and sent it off.  She had it done and back to me in short order.  I love it!!  I've got half the binding on it.  This thing is a monster.  The reason it sat unfinished for so long is that it was too big for me to spread out in my apartment for one, and it was too big for me to quilt on my machine.

I say thank you to her, and I feel very grateful for such generous quilters as herself;)

I've got to get back to getting stuff done here.  I'm hoping I will be able to post more often soon, but I am still here...quilting away;)
Happy Quilting!!

Love that quilt! So simple, yet so lovely. I like your little Christmas present to yourself, too.

That new cutlery is so pretty. I would be tempted to save it, but then you don't really enjoy it.

Your brother and sister-in-law will be thrilled with the quilt. It looks amazing! Lucky you.

The quilt turned out great, and will be loved I'm sure! I love the new silver! What a bright, cheerful table that will set; I'd be using it every day rather than saving it! I can see you making new place mats too to show it off properly! Where did you find that white tray? Haven't seen those around here. I like the "triangle" area for pieces a little longer than spoons! ---"Love"

I am so in love with your new siverware I almost couldn't bring myself to read the rest of the post. I just wanted to gaze at it's beauty! (Okay, so I'm a little strange sometimes, but hey, aren't we all? The hubby says anything bright and shiny will distract me and you've got both in one item, so what did you expect?!) But I did read on and the quilt is wonderful! What a generous suprize to have someone offer to quilt a UFO for free. Your brother and his wife will be thrilled!

Your finished quilt is fantastic, I love the colors you used in it. And what a generous offer to quilt it for you, quilters are just the best! Enjoy! ! !
