First, I recieved an email from a dear friend of mine that I hadn't heard from since I left Facebook several months ago. We have known each other since middle-school. She has had some serious life changing events in her life recently, and the fact that she took the time to write me was a good thing. I can only offer her comfort and hope.
Second, I recieved an email from a friend that I made when I first moved here to New Mexcio. We are an odd friendship as we both "hated" each other when we first met. We have nicknames for each other that will only be spoken between the two of us and my hubby if that gives any indication of the relationship. The last I had heard from her was via telephone call as she was passing by the small town I was living in on the interstate in her mom's care as she was fleeing from some personal problems that she had no control over. That was about 4 years ago. I know it may seem odd, but I love the girl in that friend way. She's a good kid. I am glad to hear that she is alive and well, as we had feared the worst. It's good to know that she is okay;)
My days seem brighter this week.
That's enough of the sappy stuff;) I got goodies in the mail today!! Christmas in July...gotta love it;)
A great big thank you to Marsha for these goodies;) It didn't occur to me until she said something in a recent email that we could have just gotten together and swapped our blocks;) Plans for next month;)
From Ruth I recieved these pretties, and some goodies to enjoy along side of them;)
Here is what I have so far....I am almost inclined to lean toward not having a sashing as I love the way the blocks compliment and contrast each other the way that they are. We will have to see;)
As for my quilter's block...I think that little public chant worked.....
My mom and I went to JoAnne's last time she was in town and she picked these fabrics out with my promise to make something for her out of them. Now, I know....this is not what I "normally" work with...but, hey, it's for my my mom;) I have some blocks in the works and will post them later this week as I make some progress on them. I think she will be pleased. I have an estimated delivery time to her of November...her birthday;)
And, needless to say, Oscar had to make sure everything was on track and Cat Approved....
He's holding it down for me;)
We are getting ready to eat dinner...oven baked BBQ Chicken on Wild Rice with Mashed Garlic Carrots. YUM! YUM!
I am going to call it a night for now....I wish you all a wonderful evening, and hope that whatever good news is to you, that you get it soon;)
Happy Quilting!!

All of the blocks look so good together. Nice extra goodies too.
Love the cat fabric. Good thing you have Oscar to help you keep it under control. LOL
The blocks do look great together, it will be neat to see how you finally get them together. I love the fabrics your mom picked out, the cats are adorable. Can't wait to see what you make for her birthday. Oscar is doing a great job keeping everything from blowing away in the wind we have had today!
Have a great evening!
Everything is lovely and Oscar is so cute! Love the kitty cat fabric. Your mom made good choices.

Oscar looks like he's either scared half to death or about ready to go super-squirrel on anything that moves! The fabrics are great, I look forward to seeing what you're up to with them, now that your chant has done its magic. And most of all, I'm glad to hear you're feeling good and have reconnected with some old friends, too. Enjoy the good life!
Not always, but most of the time, hearing from old friends is good news. Glad you go to renew old friendships.
Your mom's fabric choices are very pretty --- you know me; I love softer colors.
Love your new swap blocks too! ---"Love"
