Getting on With It

I surprised myself by not blogging this past week.  But, then again, considering my wrist has been acting up, I haven't done much of anything.  I don't know if it's tendinitis, or if I just slept on it wrong, but for a few days there I couldn't pick up anything with my right hand.  That's not a good thing when you are a sewer;) On the brighter side, it is starting to get better;)

I need to say thank you and Happy Birthday to Katie!!  Her actual age is still a secret, but I suppose that's okay in proper company;)  She had a give-away in honor of her own birthday, and I was the lucky winner!!  How cool is that??

I have also been dealing with a bout of self-imposed depression.  I don't know if it's post-vacation blues, the change of the seasons, the pain, or missing the kids.  Maybe a mix of all of the above.  But, I've pulled my boot straps up, and gotten back to it despite myself....

My mom gave me this pattern to put together.  I was auditioning backgrounds here...I went with the yellow for the center and am thinking of piecing a border to go around the whole thing with a couple of the other choices.  It's far different from the original color scheme, but that's okay;)  I will probably give this to her along with the apron I made last week along with a few other goodies...it's almost her birthday;)

In the kitchen....

...our local grocery market had some steaming hot jalapenos that were just begging to be made into salsa.  Those babies were so hot I am still recovering from the oils on my hands...and everywhere else I touched!!  I got that whole batch together for about $25, not including the jars and such.

Anyway, I'm headed out for my now daily constitutional.....I've decided to get out and get my rear in shape.  It feels good to get outside, even if I have to use some bengay when I get done;)

Happy Quilting!!

I hope your hands are feeling better soon. I dread the arthritis I know runs in my family. Though I have quite a few more years until I really have to start worrying, I'm hoping it misses me. (What will I do if I can't sew?)

The witch is really cute so far and noone ever said you had to do it in the same colors as the pattern. I'm sure your mom will love it.

Now get back to sewing! Or canning. I read somewhere something about how doing things with your hands can do wonders when you're angry. I think it applies to many other negative situations - it gives you something to think about besides stewing over whatever is bothering you. I know it works for me, but the hardest part is getting yourself started.

Congrats on your win!!!
I made that witch pattern too. I actually got it in a kit so mine is colored very much like the photo on the pattern. I like your colors too.
Wish I knewe how to can. I might have to learn before next summer.
Keep sewing. Keep walking and we are here if you need cheering up.

That Salsa looks really good enough to eat! I made lots in years gone by, but not anymore; my tummy can't handle enough of it to be worthwhile now.
I'm not into Halloween very much now, but from what I see, that is going to be a cute project. I love those red shoes! ---"Love"

You sure your witch isn't the Wicked Witch of the West? She looks like a house fell on her, LOL, specially with the red shoes! Hope you are feeling better! Keep up the wonderful projects!

I love that particular witch pattern, it is really cute! I'm sure yur Mom will love it, too! Keeping busy is a good way to chase away the clouds. Do what makes you feel happy. A nice long walk helps, too.

I'm sorry to read that you've had a bout of the blues but I'm sure it will soon pass. That's a pretty impressive collectin of salsa - a week's supply? Your applique is fun! Ann :-)
